“The Bodyguard, The Musical”

Like Whitney Houston, we will always love you. Just not this month due to circumstances beyond our control. We will be moving all eight performances of “The Bodyguard” to the weekends of March 19-21 and 26-28.

As you know, a small army of our volunteers have been working overtime to renovate our new home so we could perform the Missouri premiere of “The Bodyguard.” Unfortunately, severe weather the last couple of weeks has made it impossible to get to a stage where the city building inspectors and fire department were comfortable with giving us the necessary permits to open. All of us agree we want our guests to be as safe as we can possibly make them. We are proud that in 29 years, we have not had even one safety incident and this is the first time we have had to reschedule a show.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but the circumstances were beyond our control.

As you can imagine, finding this news out on Wednesday afternoon and figuring out what to do meant many decisions had to be made rapidly, and it was all hands on deck immediately.

Since trying to find another space overnight for two weeks was impossible and still produce the high quality production you have come to expect, we first had to find new dates when we could move the eight performances so that the theatre would be ready to open and ensure cast, crew, and caterer could make this switch so we could have a show.

By dinner time last night, everyone possible was on the phones all night to ensure patrons coming opening night would know performances had been moved and start the process of finding out what alternate performance date they wanted.

This morning the phones were manned again all day to take care of our Friday night customers and part of the two Saturday performances.

Rest assured, we will call every reservation and talk to a person or leave a message. Just know that we are doing this in the order of performances so if you have not received a call yet, you will soon.

One thing which would be helpful is if you are not calling to change to another performance or make a new reservation, please refrain from leaving another type of message. This fills up the answering service and then someone who needs an immediate response is unable to leave a message.

I know some of you are commenting on Facebook because you are puzzled why you are just now receiving a call the day before the performance. We hope this timeline will clear up any miscommunication so you will know we are reaching out to everyone as rapidly as humanly possible. This has been a monumental task since many performances were close to being sold out, and since we are a totally volunteer organization, many of our CCP family have pitched in to make this process as smooth as possible.

Thank you to all our patrons who have been so gracious and supportive during this extremely stressful process of moving this production and continuing to move forward toward the opening of our exciting new theatre. We are so grateful for those of you who have already moved your tickets to one of our new performances, and we look forward to exchanging tickets for those we have not been able to contact yet to a new performance that is convenient for you. We appreciate your patience. The end result is going to be amazing.

We are grateful to Mayor Carrie Tergin, the city officials, fire department, architect, contractor, and many CCP volunteers who are working together to make our dream a reality for this wonderful addition to the Central Missouri cultural community.

All new constructions have growing pains, but this is one we did not, and could not foresee. Those of you have been with us for any length of time know what a struggle it has been for us the past year to survive after unexpectedly being uprooted from our home for 13 years, searching for a new home, and totally renovating a new space to make an even better experience for both artists and audience.

We ask you to be patient a little longer. We could not do what we do without you, and at this crucial time, we need your support more than ever.

The beautiful notes of “I Will Always Love You” and “One Moment in Time” will be floating off our stage very soon…just not as soon as we hoped.

Please support CCP and exchange or buy tickets for “The Bodyguard the Musical,” coming your way March 19-21 and 26-28.
